INTERVIEWS
For more than twenty-five years, interviews have been at the centre of my work as a journalist, filmmaker and film historian.
Since the early 2000s, I have had the opportunity to meet and interview hundreds of filmmakers, actors, producers, screenwriters, cinematographers, action directors and other professionals from the world of cinema and popular culture.
These conversations have been recorded in many different contexts: during international film festivals, as part of my work as a freelance film journalist, during professional assignments for publications and distributors, as well as throughout my personal travels around the world, often driven by my interest in Asian cinema and the people who created it.
Over the years, I have interviewed major figures from Hong Kong, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, European and American cinema, as well as personalities connected to different areas of popular culture. Some encounters took place in formal press settings, while others came from long-term relationships developed through years of research, professional collaborations and repeated visits to film industries across Asia and beyond.
A number of these interviews were originally published in magazines, websites or other editorial projects. However, a very large proportion of the conversations I recorded over the past twenty-five years have remained unpublished, preserved in my personal archives.
These recordings represent a unique audiovisual collection documenting different generations of filmmakers and artists, including many personalities whose careers are closely linked to important periods in film history. As time passes, these testimonies become increasingly valuable as first-hand accounts of creative processes, working methods and personal experiences.
I am now progressively bringing this material back to life, selecting, restoring and contextualising archive interviews that have never previously been made available to a wider audience.
Some of these conversations will be presented here on this website, while others will be developed through my two editorial platforms: CineFlamme in French and CineMagma in English. Selected interviews may also contribute to future editorial projects, publications, books or other film-related projects in collaboration with publishers and cultural organisations.
Beyond simple conversations, these interviews form an evolving archive of film history — a collection of voices, memories and personal perspectives that connects past and present generations of filmmakers and audiences.
